1. Do not store your documents on your desktop. Store them on Other Drives. You can access
data from the drive.
2. Files that are required on a daily basis can be copied to disk on your computer or an
external storage device like Pen Drive,USB Hard Disk, CD or DVD.
3. Remove temporary files & other hidden files from time to time, from your computer. This
can be done using C Cleaner application or a disk clean-up utility. Build-up of such files
slow-down the process of applications and consumes more memory.
4. Regularly check whether the antivirus is updated. Ensure that the antivirus is set on automatic update. If the antivirus does not automatically update from internet, please open the application and switch On the ‘Automatic Update’ setting.
5. Perform ‘Full System Scan’ of your computer weekly or monthly from Anti-virus.
6. Always ensure that your computer is clean & dust-free. Computer can be cleaned by
moistening a soft cloth or tissue paper.
7. A backup of important files should be taken once in a week or fortnight; on a pen drive,
external hard disk or on a hard disk of your computer.
8. Your antivirus scans the external storage devices like pen drive & external hard disk when
connected via USB port. Allow the scan to complete before you access the device. Stopping
this scan can allow the virus to enter your computer and the network.
9. Users should shut down their computers through operating system and switch off the
power supply only when the computer has shut down properly.
10. Users must switch off the power supply to their computer after proper shut down of same.
11. For laptop computers, the power supply should be switched off once the battery is fully
charged. Power supply should be switched on only when available battery charge is 10%
or less. Keeping the power supply on even when battery is fully charged reduces the life of
battery as well as damages it.
12. The storage devices must be removed only when they have been successfully disconnected
by operating system (through hardware remove process).
